Moroccan football player Sofyan Amrabat has said that the Atlas Lions will do the best they can to make Moroccans proud and happy again.
Amrabat made his remarks in a brief interview released by Morocco’s Royal Football Federation (FRMF) on Thursday, where he conveyed his high spirit and ambition to Moroccan fans.
“We had an amazing World Cup. But that’s not over. We start now a new adventure, new challenges … in the next World Cup,” Amrabat said.
The Atlas Lion referenced Morocco’s preparation for the upcoming qualifier games for the 2026 World Cup.
The Moroccan national team is set to play against Tanzania on November 21 as part of the qualifier games for the next World Cup.
All eyes are on the Moroccan national team, following their historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they finished in fourth-place, an all-time high for any African or Arab team.
Morocco’s Atlas Lions are also determined to showcase good performances during the Africa Cup of Nations and make a deep run or win the title.
“The Africa Cup is coming. We’re training… training hard. The atmosphere is very good,” Amrabat added. “We are like a family. We prepare ourselves to make the Moroccan people around the world again happy like in the World Cup.”
The Moroccan lineup called by Walid Regragui for the Tanzania game is now gearing up for the game in a preparatory camp.
Morocco’s performances during the 2022 World Cup have significantly improved the country’s FIFA ranking. Following the competition, Morocco ranked as the world’s 11th-best national team.
Since then, they have lost a few spots but maintain a ranking as the 13th-best team, and the best African team of the ranking, ahead of countries like Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
