Indian HCLTech sets up a Global Delivery Center in Morocco

Indian multinational information technology services and consulting company HCLTech launched a Global Delivery Center (GDC) in Rabat, Morocco, as part of the company’s nearshore strategy to serve global enterprises, announced HCLTech this week.

The company said that the launch follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between HCLTech and the government of Morocco in 2022 to invest in the country’s technology sector. The GDC will deliver transformation projects to clients across HCLTech’s portfolio themes of digital, engineering, cloud, AI, and software, the company said, adding that this launch further strengthens HCLTech’s global network of nearshore locations, which employ more than 23,000 individuals.

HCLTech affirmed that Morocco is an ideal nearshore location due to its skilled talent pool and prime geographic location. HCLTech endeavors to create partnerships with local universities and institutions to hone young talent in STEM and to facilitate entry level employment opportunities within the rapidly growing technology sector, it added.

“The establishment of this center signifies our commitment to fostering innovation, promoting digital empowerment, and creating a thriving ecosystem for the tech industry in Morocco. Together with HCLTech, we will work to unlock new horizons of growth, harnessing the power of digital transformation to drive progress, prosperity, and inclusivity,” said minister in charge of digital transition and administration reform, Ghita Mezzour.

Chief delivery officer of HCLTech, Apparao Vv, pointed out that the company is looking forward to investing and scaling its presence in Morocco and to enhancing its technological expertise.

The new project will create more than 1,000 highly qualified jobs and strengthen the sector of outsourcing in Morocco, particularly in the field of software coding and IT services.

President of HCL Tech Roshni Nadar who visited Morocco on the occasion of the launch of the new Delivery Center, specializing in technical support and software engineering to serve its global customers, held talks with head of the Moroccan Government Aziz Akhannouch and several cabinet members.

Noida-based HCLTech is among the 20 largest publicly traded companies in India and is one of the top Big Tech Indian firms.
