Libya has been designated vice-president of the 42nd conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) based in Paris.
Moussa al Maqrif, Minister of Culture of the Government of National Unity, commented on the importance of this election in strengthening national participation in key UNESCO bodies.
Al Maqrif stressed the importance of remaining aligned with progress in education, culture and science, highlighting the need to leverage this position to develop and activate multiple priority initiatives and programs at the national level.
On November 10, Libya officially deposited the document ratifying the 2003 Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage during a ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters, further strengthening its commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage.
