Moroccan Champion Joseph Lasiri to Face Thai Star in World Title Unification Bout

Morocco’s Muay Thai star Joseph Lasiri hopes to tighten his grasp on his ONE Strawweight Muay Thai world title when he faces Prajanchai PK Saenchai in a title unification bout at ONE Friday Fights 46: Tawanchai vs. Superbon.

The bout, which takes place on Friday, December 22 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, is a rematch between reigning champion Lasiri and interim champion Prajanchai.

Lasiri, who is nicknamed “The Hurricane,” emerged victorious from the pair’s first ONE 157 encounter in May 2022, dethroning his Thai counterpart via technical knockout (TKO).

After enduring a difficult start in his ONE Championship career, the 32-year-old Moroccan managed to pick up three consecutive victories that culminated in winning the world title.

Lasiri, who recently returned from injury, last fought for ONE Championship in November 2022, losing to longtime ONE Flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

On the other hand, Prajanchai is on a three-win-streak.

The 29-year-old Thai defeated the Thai duo of Kompet Fairtex and Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in Muay Thai and Algeria’s Akram Hamidi in kickboxing after suffering his only ONE Championship loss to Lasiri.

ONE Championship recently announced that Tawanchai PK Saenchai will defend his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title against fellow Thai and former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 46.Also, Algeria’s kickboxing star Anissa Meksen returns to face Phetjeeja to determine the interim ONE Atomweight Kickboxing world champion.

ONE Friday Fights is a series of weekly martial arts events by ONE Championship that takes place every Friday inside the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, kicking off at 12:30 PM (UTC +1) and broadcast live on BeIN Sports and ONE Championship’s YouTube channel.
