Egypt’s Eetc and Jan De Nul Secure Approval for Electricity Export Project to Europe

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and Belgium’s Jan De Nul have received approval from the Egyptian government for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on electricity export.

The companies will initiate studies for a project aiming to export renewable energy-generated electricity from Egypt to Europe through a Mediterranean Sea route.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, during his visit to Brussels for the EU’s Global Gateway Forum, expressed Egypt’s strategic interest in this project, highlighting the nation’s ambitious plans to extend marine electricity transmission lines to multiple European countries.

The forum gathers high-level representatives to discuss investment needs and explore new collaborations in various sectors, including green energy, hydrogen, research, education, critical raw materials, and transport corridors.
