Oriental Weavers, the global leader in carpets and rugs, has entered into an agreement with Amarenco Solarize, a leading solar energy solutions provider, to power one of its factories in the Tenth of Ramadan area with solar energy. This initiative aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and Oriental Weavers’ commitment to carbon emission reduction.
The 1.3 MWp solar power station will meet 80% of the factory’s energy needs, resulting in an annual reduction of 2,300 tons of carbon emissions. This marks a significant step in Oriental Weavers’ sustainability journey, reflecting its dedication to environmental responsibility and leadership in the carpet industry. The company has already achieved a 30% reduction in total emissions through energy efficiency projects over the past three years.
Yasmine Khamis, Chair of Oriental Weavers Carpets, emphasized the commitment to sustainable operations and the goal of transitioning all factories to clean energy.
Amarenco Solarize’s CEO, Yassin Abdelghafar, expressed pride in this partnership, highlighting the potential of solar energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Egypt.
Oriental Weavers continues to address changing consumer demands and climate challenges through innovative measures, efficiency improvements, and environmentally conscious practices in its operations.
